………Sledmere House this Sunday, 20th May 2012. Sledemere House is hosting it’s 2nd Annual Dog Fun Day. We had a lot of fun at this event last year and the plans are looking like it will be bigger and better this year. You can find out all about it on their website.

www.k9check.co.uk aims to assist in improving the health and well being of animals by providing factual, verified information on which prospective owners can make good decisions.

K9 Check Objectives (taken from their website)

Provide a means for all owners of pedigree and crossbreed dogs to contribute information on the health and wellbeing of their dogs to an international database
To ensure that all data submited is verified by qualified veterinary practitioners
Make all data is readily and easily available to all interested parties*
Ensure the data is analysed in a meaningful and impartial way
To assist in legitimate research projects, designed to improved animal health and welfare
To work with Vets and other appropriate professionals to refine and develop the way we collect and use data.

Emergency Animal Rescue Support. Fundraising, Foster care and advice for animals in need in North Yorkshire. Their aim is to rescue dogs from urgent pts situations and place them in foster care until suitable new homes or rescue space can
be found. E.A.R.S specialises in caring for older dogs and young dogs with behaviour issues that are harder to rehome and are often put to sleep simply because theres nowhere for them to go. It is run entirely by a network of experienced rescue volunteers across North Yorkshire. They also offer help and advice on our rehome from home service, where
the will assess the dog and homecheck potential new owners. They also have a lost and found page to hopefully reunite lost pets. Rescuing one dog may not change the world, but for that dog the world will be forever changed. Please help them to rescue that one dog at a time. For more information please see their website.

Doris Banham Dog Rescue

Trudie James founded this dog rescue in honour of her mother, Doris Banham. They take dogs from pounds and from members of the public; all of the dogs would have been put to sleep if they hadn’t taken them in. When the volunteers go to the pound they take whatever dogs are in danger; they may be disabled, ill or have behavioural problems, but they are never left behind. They never put a dog to sleep regardless of the problems it has unless it is too ill to recover, is suffering and will die, in which case we take the decision, along with a vet, to put the dog to sleep.

Everyone at Doris Banham Dog Rescue are volunteers, they give their time and efforts freely and will not turn their backs on a dog in need.
