SATS is a method of training developed by Kayce Cover in the US for all animals, not specifically dogs. However, the application to dogs has proved to be extremely successful and can often achieve results where other more traditional approaches fail.
SATS is based on giving the dog information BEFORE it does something or has something done to it …. and then giving constant feedback DURING and on COMPLETION of a task or operation.
The system is entirely compatible with the APDT principles of kind, fair and effective methods and can be particularly beneficial with behavioural issues.
If we regard all training (even ‘bad’ training) methods as a form of communication with dogs, SATS rates at the very top of any communication scale.
The Tailwagger Club has two SATS qualified trainers, Angela and Rachel.
